How do we have freshly brewed coffee and espresso drinks? This genus set up.

We are using potable water in a five gallon container with a special pump that feeds this drinking water directly into our coffee and espresso machines. We refill the water from our large container of potable water as needed throughout the day.

The last few weeks have been incredibly challenging, to say the least, and we know that there is a long road ahead for our region as a whole. We’re endlessly thankful to all the community partners and businesses that helped us have the ability to serve free meals during our downtime. It was meaningful to our staff to be able to put out quality meals to support our community. The teamwork and support for each other our crew has is truly outstanding. As we reopen we’ll continue to share photos and thanks to everyone who helped us. Hang in there WNC. We love you.

It has been wonderful to see our neighbors and their families coming together for a freshly made meal.

• Our amazing staff is volunteering to do what they love, cook for our community. (donations accepted for them)
• Donations of produce and dry goods. We are thankful for our vendors that have stepped up to help and the new connections we’ve made, and to each individual who shared what they had for their community. We’ll do our best to shout out to those folks who’ve donated.
• Water. We started this service initially using the water in our garden rain tanks, boiling it to make it potable, and clean well water brought in by our owner. We now have a big tote and are getting fresh water from the nearest hurricane relief site with a large tanker of potable water. We are conserving and minimizing our water use. What is left in the rain barrels is going back to garden use for watering fall crops we’re going to use when we reopen.

Hello community members. We handed out free breakfast this morning and plan to do so again tomorrow starting at 10am until we run out. However we don’t have any water to give out….
….. If you have bottles of water to donate we would love it if you dropped those off anytime after 9am …..
We know this is a huge ask and a long shot, but as we had a few hundred people get food this morning we thought it worth an ask out.

We’re closed today for everyone’s safety. Having a hurricane come through Asheville immediately after a tropical storm is making for historic flooding. We’re at the top of the ridge line, so out of the flood plain, but roads all around are underwater and it is not safe for our employees or customers to be traveling.

Spade to Spoon

Spade to Spoon is our Sunny Point Café version of “garden to table.” Immediately next to our restaurant we have a large kitchen garden where we grow a wide variety of produce, herbs and flowers to provide our chefs with the freshest of ingredients. Our kitchen garden serves as an example of productive urban land use, is educational and satisfying not only for the Sunny Point Café gang of employees, but for our lovely patrons from near and far, and the community of West Asheville itself. Growing local and organic produce is ecologically sound and aesthetically pleasing. Please take a walk through our garden next time you visit and see for yourself.
