The poppies in our garden are favorite flowers for honeybees this time of year - sometimes 6 or more bees in a flower at one time!
Take a walk down into the garden on a sunny morning and you’ll be treated to the sight of lots of honeybees at work in the poppies.
Look carefully at other flowers in our garden to catch bumblebees and smaller native bees at work. We grow a wide variety of flowers to attract a wide range of pollinators. - Alice

A favorite flower for me has always been the colum

A favorite flower for me has always been the columbine. I love its complexity and how the shape evokes a creature floating or swimming. Currently we have pink and yellow varieties blooming in our landscape, and there are seedlings in the greenhouse started from seeds saved and passed along by a kind neighbor. I’m looking forward to next year when hopefully we’ll have even more varieties blooming. - Alice

Spade to Spoon is our Sunny Point Café version of “garden to table.” Immediately next to our restaurant we have a large kitchen garden where we grow a wide variety of produce, herbs and flowers to provide our chefs with the freshest of ingredients. Our kitchen garden serves as an example of productive urban land use, is educational and satisfying not only for the Sunny Point Café gang of employees, but for our lovely patrons from near and far, and the community of West Asheville itself. Growing local and organic produce is ecologically sound and aesthetically pleasing. Please take a walk through our garden next time you visit and see for yourself.
